About
Hours Deep publishes one thing: long reviews of games, with the playtime printed next to the score. Six hours with a forty-hour role-playing game is a first impression, not a review, and most sites will not tell you which one you are reading.
Scores run from nought to ten with one decimal. There is no tier system, no badge and no set of named verdicts to memorise — the number is a summary of the writing, not a replacement for it.
Where the scores actually land
Every review site claims it uses the whole scale. Here is ours, so you can check rather than take our word for it.
Playtime
The hours figure is time spent in the game before publication, rounded to the nearest hour. Where a typical completion time is known, reviews show it beside ours, so you can see whether the verdict comes from someone who finished the game or someone who stopped early.
Reviews in progress
Long games get published unfinished and unscored, marked as still playing. The number arrives when the playtime justifies one. A score in three days for an eighty-hour game is a guess wearing a decimal point.
Changing a score
Games change after launch, so scores here can move. When one does, the review keeps a dated record of the old number and the reason — nothing is quietly rewritten.
Disclosure
Where a publisher supplied the game, the review says so in the body text. No score is shared before publication, nothing is written from a preview build unless labelled as one, and no coverage is paid for.
